About the Role
We’re looking for a
Senior Java Engineer
to help build and scale the core systems powering our clients platform.
You’ll join a
fast-paced startup environment
where engineers have significant ownership, influence technical decisions, and work closely with product teams to deliver scalable solutions.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex backend challenges, thrives in ambiguity, and is excited by building systems in high-growth environments.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using
Java and Spring Boot
- Own features end-to-end — from design and development through deployment and optimisation
- Contribute to architecture decisions, technical RFCs, and engineering best practices
- Build resilient APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
- Write clean, testable code and conduct code reviews
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve system performance and reliability
- Collaborate closely with product, infrastructure, and engineering teams
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering culture as the company scales
What We’re Looking For
- **5+ years**
- of backend engineering experience using
Java
- Strong experience with:
- Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Data JPA
- REST APIs and Microservices
- PostgreSQL, JPA/Hibernate
- Kafka or event-driven architectures
• Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD
- AWS and/or GCP
- Strong understanding of
- OOP, SOLID principles, and clean code
- Experience building distributed systems or multi-tenant SaaS platforms
- Comfortable working in
- startup, scale-up, or fast-moving environments
- Ability to balance speed, ownership, and engineering quality
- Nice to Have
- Startup or high-growth company experience
• Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
- OAuth2 / JWT authentication
- Observability tooling (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana)
- MongoDB or other NoSQL databases
- Experience writing RFCs or architecture documentation
