Job Summary

The Category Head will be responsible for the overall strategy, growth, and profitability of a specific product category.

This role involves developing and executing comprehensive category plans, managing vendor relationships, optimizing product assortment, and driving sales performance.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscapes within their assigned category, with a proven track record of delivering strong financial results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision and roadmap for the assigned product category, aligning with overall business objectives.
  • Own the P&L for the category, including revenue, gross margin, and inventory management, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded.
  • Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to identify new product opportunities, understand consumer needs, and monitor competitor activities.
  • Manage the entire product lifecycle from conceptualization, sourcing, pricing, promotion, to end-of-life strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and suppliers, negotiating favorable terms, pricing, and promotional support.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, sales, supply chain, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution of category initiatives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of category managers or specialists, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Define and optimize product assortment, ensuring a compelling and relevant offering that meets customer demand and business goals.
  • Develop and execute pricing strategies to maximize profitability and market share while remaining competitive.
  • Monitor inventory levels, forecast demand, and work closely with the supply chain team to ensure optimal stock availability and minimize obsolescence.
  • Analyze sales data, customer feedback, and market trends to identify areas for improvement and growth within the category.
  • Oversee promotional activities and merchandising strategies to drive category visibility and sales.
