Casting Category Technical Leader

Role overview

Scope of responsibility

• Support casting category strategies and long-term sourcing plans; advise on casting processes and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with engineering to optimize designs for cost, quality, and performance; assess market and technology developments.
• Lead supplier development and improvement work covering quality, delivery, cost, capacity, and supplier KPIs.
• Support supplier selection and footprint optimization, build strategic supplier relationships, and address critical performance issues.
• Identify supplier risks and support mitigation, business continuity, and supply-chain resilience.
• Collaborate across category, division, and engineering teams; advise on casting design, metallurgy, and tooling standards.
• Support product development, supplier readiness, localization, globalization, and new product initiatives.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in supplier development or supplier quality.
• Casting technical experience spanning sand, die, investment, and permanent-mold castings, and open/closed forgings procurement.
• Strong knowledge of casting processes, ferrous and non-ferrous materials, global supply markets, supplier performance, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Experience in technical procurement, new product introduction, production procurement, manufacturing, or design/development.
• Knowledge of make-versus-buy analysis and current industry technologies and trends.
• Strong analytical, communication, and influencing skills.

Preferred qualifications

• Metallurgy or materials science background and knowledge of gating systems for complex, high-mix, low-volume steel castings are preferred.
• Global casting supplier management, ISO standards or quality systems, pumps, valves, turbines, heavy industrial manufacturing, and advanced manufacturing knowledge are preferred.
