Role overview

Supervise a portfolio of 6–7 vessels trading to and from the UAE, focusing on vehicle shipping and high-and-heavy cargo operations.

Ensure safe, efficient loading and discharge, accurate stowage planning, cargo quality control and effective claims management.

Vessel and cargo operations

  • Prepare and review stowage calculations for passenger cars and high-and-heavy cargo, considering vessel particulars, stability, segregation and operational constraints.
  • Supervise loading and discharge at UAE and other relevant ports; ensure approved stowage plans, lashing standards and procedures are followed.
  • Oversee cargo quality and loading and discharge ramp surveys to identify potential damage early.
  • Monitor cargo-handling performance and improve loading and discharge processes.

Claims and stakeholder coordination

  • Manage cargo-quality claims with customers, insurers and other stakeholders; maintain supporting documents, photographs and survey reports.
  • Coordinate with vessel masters, port agents, terminal operators, freight forwarders and OEMs to support smooth operations.
  • Resolve operational challenges, minimise vessel-call delays and coordinate cargo movements across UAE and other trading locations.

Quality, records and improvement

  • Maintain cargo-handling, stowage, lashing and quality-control standards across the vessel portfolio.
  • Keep accurate records of cargo operations, ramp surveys, damage and claims for reporting and follow-up.
  • Identify operational risks, reduce cargo damage and contribute to improved supervision and quality-management practices.

Key requirements

  • Relevant experience in PCTC, RoRo, vehicle logistics or finished-vehicle shipping operations; practical passenger car and high-and-heavy cargo knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of stowage, vessel stability, segregation and lashing; experience conducting or supervising ramp surveys.
  • Knowledge of cargo quality control, damage prevention, survey documentation and claims management.
  • Able to coordinate with customers, insurers, vessel masters, agents, terminal operators, freight forwarders and OEMs.
  • UAE port and wider GCC vehicle-market familiarity is advantageous; understanding of PCTC and RoRo cargo procedures is required.
  • Strong organisation, attention to detail, pressure management, analytical, problem-solving and reporting skills.
  • Written and spoken English is required; additional regional or Far East counterpart languages are advantageous.

Location and operations

  • Based in Dubai, UAE; work includes supervision at UAE and other relevant ports and vessel calls.
