Café General Manager & Business Development

Role overview

Café operations and team management

• Manage daily café operations and efficient workflows; lead, manage, and develop the team while implementing and monitoring SOPs.
• Maintain product quality, service, hygiene, customer experience, and compliance with company policies and operating standards.
• Set and monitor KPIs; manage staff schedules, attendance, productivity, and performance; resolve operational issues.

POS and delivery platforms

• Manage POS menus, modifiers, add-ons, discounts, promotions, and daily, weekly, and monthly sales reporting.
• Analyze sales by product, time, channel, and payment method; monitor voids, refunds, complimentary items, discounts, and cancellations.
• Reconcile POS sales with cash, card, online payments, and delivery platforms; investigate discrepancies and irregularities.
• Manage delivery-platform menus, prices, images, offers, orders, cancellations, refunds, complaints, ratings, and operational issues.
• Analyze platform commissions and channel costs; optimize menu, pricing, offers, presentation, and delivery KPIs.
• Ensure platform menus, prices, and products align with the POS and inventory system.

Cost control and profitability

• Calculate and monitor food cost, beverage cost, COGS, and labor cost; prepare and review P&L reports and profitability.
• Control wastage, identify root causes, and implement waste-reduction procedures; monitor portion control, recipe costing, and product yield.
• Monitor potential loss from voids, complimentary items, staff meals, and discounts; analyze product and channel profitability.
• Recommend product pricing and menu changes based on sales performance and profit margins.

Inventory, procurement, and growth

• Manage inventory, stocktaking, control procedures, par levels, timely purchasing, and replenishment.
• Review purchasing prices and supplier quotations; negotiate competitive prices and favorable terms.
• Reduce overstocking, slow-moving items, spoilage, and expired products; ensure proper storage.
• Develop strategies for sales and average transaction value; analyze sales and act on best-selling and underperforming products.
• Create promotions, bundles, upselling strategies, and special offers; identify revenue streams and business opportunities.
• Contribute to menu and concept development; monitor competitors, pricing, market trends, and industry developments.

Marketing

• Develop and execute the café marketing plan and manage paid advertising campaigns.
• Understand targeting, campaign objectives, audience segmentation, and performance optimization; monitor CPL, CPA, ROAS, and campaign ROI.

Requirements

• Experienced and highly motivated café general manager and business development professional.
• Strong experience in café or restaurant operations, business development, marketing, cost control, events, and business growth.
• Strong hands-on experience with café and restaurant POS systems.
• Strong practical experience managing food delivery platforms such as Talabat, Noon Food, Keeta, Deliveroo, and Careem.
