Freelance CAD Designer partnering on an ongoing, project-by-project basis.
Transforms concepts, sketches, and specifications into high-quality 2D drawings and 3D models.
Assignments are provided as needed with a brief, reference materials, and requested timeline.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed 2D technical drawings, schematics, and 3D models from project briefs, sketches, or engineering specifications.
- Revise CAD files based on feedback from project teams, clients, or engineers.
- Ensure drawings and models comply with industry standards, building codes, or project-specific manufacturing tolerances.
- Maintain clean, organized CAD files, layers, and project directories for handoff and future reference.
- Clarify requirements, troubleshoot design issues, and provide progress updates through calls or asynchronous communication.
- Deliver native CAD files and exported review formats, such as DWG, SLDPRT, PDF, STEP, or STL.
Required skills and qualifications
- Proven professional experience as a CAD Designer, Drafter, or in a similar role.
- Expert-level knowledge of industry-standard CAD software; examples include AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino, Revit, or SketchUp, and the required software should be specified.
- Strong understanding of relevant engineering, manufacturing, or architectural principles.
- Ability to produce accurate drawings with correct dimensions, annotations, and scaling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication for clarifying design requirements and remote collaboration.
- Strong portfolio showing complex 3D modeling and precise 2D drafting.
- Self-management and timely delivery of accurate work.
