Overview

We are looking for a freelance CAD Designer – Civil & Desert Destinations to join immediately on a

large-scale cultural festival and desert destination project.

The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background in civil/site layouts, outdoor

destinations, temporary structures, events, and festival environments.

This role requires

someone who can produce accurate CAD drawings while also understanding the practical site

requirements of a desert destination, including access, circulation, parking, service routes,

temporary structures, utilities coordination, levels, and buildability.

The candidate must be confident working in a fast-moving creative and technical environment,

translating design sketches, masterplans, consultant markups, and 3D models into clear and

coordinated technical drawings.

Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

1.

Prepare accurate CAD drawings for large-scale desert destinations, festival sites, outdoor

public spaces, temporary structures, civil layouts, access routes, parking areas, service

zones, and back-of-house areas.

2.

Translate design sketches, markups, SketchUp models, survey information, and

consultant inputs into clean technical drawings.

3.

Develop site plans, zoning layouts, circulation plans, road layouts, pedestrian routes,

parking layouts, emergency access plans, setting-out drawings, sections, elevations, and

typical details.

4.

Support the design and technical teams in developing layouts for temporary structures,

platforms, tents, cabins, kiosks, shaded structures, F&B units, market areas, camping

zones, visitor facilities, and support areas.

5.

Coordinate civil/site requirements, including levels, grading awareness, drainage

considerations, road widths, access points, turning areas, service corridors, utility routes,

and site logistics.

6.

Review layouts from a practical site perspective to help ensure they are buildable,

accessible, safe, and suitable for desert conditions.

7.

Use AutoCAD to create organized, scaled, layered, dimensioned, and coordinated

drawing packages.

8 Use SketchUp to review, update, and coordinate simple 3D site models and temporary

structure layouts.

9.

Maintain drawing standards, title blocks, xrefs, blocks, file naming, revision control, and

drawing registers.

10.

Assist with area calculations, quantity take-offs, spacing studies, capacity checks, and

layout verification.

11.

Coordinate with spatial designers, technical managers, civil consultants, production

teams, suppliers, and contractors.

12.

Revise drawings quickly based on design changes, consultant comments, and project

requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

a.

Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning, Drafting, or a

related technical field.

b. 5+ years of experience in CAD design, civil drafting, site planning, outdoor destination

layouts, event infrastructure, festival sites, or temporary structures.

c.

Experience in events, festivals, cultural destinations, desert destinations, outdoor

activations, or temporary environments is highly preferred.

d.

Strong understanding of civil/site planning, access roads, pedestrian circulation, parking,

service routes, emergency access, levels, grading principles, drainage awareness, utilities

coordination, and setting-out logic.

e.

Good understanding of temporary and semi-temporary structures such as platforms, tents,

cabins, kiosks, pavilions, shade structures, modular units, stages, and support facilities.

f.

Ability to read and coordinate architectural, civil, structural, landscape, and event

production drawings.

g.Strong technical drafting discipline with excellent attention to detail.

h.

Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to frequent design changes.

i.

Practical understanding of buildability, site logistics, safety, and operational requirements.

j.

Good communication and coordination skills.

k.

UAE or GCC project experience is preferred.

l.

Experience in desert, remote, or large outdoor sites is a strong advantage.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is more than a standard CAD draftsman.

They should be a technically

minded CAD Designer who understands how large outdoor sites work.

They should be able to look at a creative masterplan and think about roads, access, parking,

levels, service routes, back-of-house, emergency circulation, temporary structures, utilities, and

construction practicality.

They must be comfortable supporting a fast-moving creative team while keeping drawings

accurate, organized, coordinated, and ready for consultant review, pricing, production

development, and site implementation.
