Caterpillar seeks a C++ Tech Lead / Architect for embedded software development and technical leadership.
Required technical skills
- Strong hands-on C++ experience for embedded development and experience developing on Embedded Linux.
- Understanding of embedded systems, concurrency, and performance.
- Experience with design reviews, code reviews, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with sensors and positioning technologies, including GNSS, IMU, laser, and optical technologies.
- Strong Git, CI/CD, and modern software practices.
- Angular and TypeScript exposure is nice to have.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, electronics, or a related field.
- 10–14+ years of software development experience, including 1–2 years leading a small or medium-sized team.
Responsibilities
- Own and contribute to architecture and detailed design; design and contribute to feature development, debugging, and defect resolution.
- Lead and participate in design reviews, code reviews, and technical decisions; mentor engineers in modern C++, embedded systems, debugging, and profiling.
- Remove technical roadblocks, clarify priorities, and ensure proper defect management and release discipline.
- Collaborate with systems, controls, sensors, and hardware teams, as well as geographically dispersed teams.
- Communicate with product managers and global leadership.
