We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Buyer – Home Furnishing to manage the sourcing, selection, and procurement of home furnishing products, including furniture, décor, textiles, lighting, rugs, and accessories.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying market trends, developing product assortments, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring the availability of high-quality products that align with customer preferences and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute buying strategies for assigned home furnishing categories.
- Source and select products that meet market demand, quality standards, and profitability targets.
- Identify and evaluate local and international suppliers and manufacturers.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, and supply agreements to achieve optimum commercial terms.
- Analyze sales performance, inventory levels, customer preferences, and market trends to make informed buying decisions.
- Manage product assortment planning, seasonal collections, and new product launches.
- Collaborate with merchandising, planning, marketing, and operations teams to ensure successful product placement and promotion.
- Monitor stock levels and forecast purchasing requirements to maintain optimal inventory.
- Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and maintain strong vendor relationships.
- Attend trade fairs, exhibitions, and supplier meetings to identify new products and sourcing opportunities.
- Work closely with quality assurance teams to ensure product compliance and quality standards.
- Prepare purchasing budgets, sales forecasts, and category performance reports.
- Monitor competitor activities, pricing strategies, and emerging market trends.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Retail Management, Interior Design, or a related field.
- 3–7 years of experience in buying, sourcing, procurement, or category management within the home furnishing, furniture, décor, or retail industry.
- Strong understanding of home furnishing products, materials, styles, and market trends.
- Proven experience in supplier negotiations and vendor management.
- Strong analytical and commercial acumen.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with international suppliers and manufacturers.
- Knowledge of import/export procedures and global sourcing.
- Familiarity with product development and private-label sourcing.
- Understanding of consumer buying behavior within the home furnishing sector.
