Business Data Analyst (Data Continual Improvement)- London

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Engage stakeholders to understand processes, challenges and data requirements; facilitate workshops and discovery sessions.
• Gather, document and validate business, functional and data requirements.
• Develop user stories, process flows, business rules and acceptance criteria.
• Manage and refine business-request backlogs and agree delivery priorities.
• Support enhancements to on-premises and cloud data platforms, data products, dashboards and reporting.
• Analyse insurance datasets and support data mapping, profiling, reconciliation and root-cause analysis.
• Coordinate business and technical delivery, backlog refinement, sprint planning, testing and release activities.
• Define business test scenarios and support system integration testing and UAT through stakeholder sign-off.
• Define data quality requirements and support identification and resolution of data quality issues.
• Keep stakeholders informed of priorities, progress, dependencies, outcomes and deployment readiness.

About you

• Proven Business Data Analyst experience within the London Market, Commercial Insurance or Specialty Insurance sector.
• Strong understanding of insurance data and related business processes.
• Experience in areas such as underwriting, delegated authority, bordereaux, claims, finance, exposure management or regulatory reporting.
• Experience managing and refining business or technical delivery backlogs and gathering and documenting requirements.
• Strong data analysis, reconciliation and problem-solving skills.
• Experience translating business requirements for technical teams and working with Data Engineering, Analytics and Architecture.
• Experience supporting testing, UAT and business change.
• Strong stakeholder management, workshop facilitation and communication skills; able to manage priorities and maintain requirements traceability.

Desirable skills and experience

• Experience with Snowflake or a comparable cloud data platform, on-premises data warehouses, dashboards or analytics products is desirable.
• Agile delivery experience, familiarity with Azure DevOps or a comparable tool, and knowledge of data governance or insurance regulatory obligations are desirable.

• Requirements documented for technical delivery, with analysis, process maps, user stories and business rules kept current.
• Stakeholders receive clear visibility of priorities, progress, dependencies and outcomes.
