The role involves producing shop drawings, performing clash detection, coordinating vertical transportation interfaces with other disciplines, and ensuring BIM deliverables comply with project requirements and standards.

BIM Modeling and Shop Drawings

  • Develop, maintain, and update 3D BIM models for passenger elevators and escalators using Autodesk Revit.
  • Prepare BIM models in accordance with project BIM standards, BEP, EIR, and company procedures.
  • Ensure models meet the required Level of Development (LOD) at each project milestone.
  • Generate shop drawings directly from BIM models, including sections, elevations, layouts, and interface details.
  • Revise drawings in accordance with engineering comments, coordination outcomes, and site requirements.

BIM Coordination and Clash Detection

  • Coordinate vertical transportation models with architectural, structural, MEP, and other relevant disciplines.
  • Perform clash detection and model coordination using Autodesk Navisworks Manage, ACC, BIM 360, and other approved platforms.
  • Identify, review, classify, and report clashes involving lifts, escalators, and associated building interfaces.
  • Prepare and maintain clash detection reports and track outstanding coordination issues through closure.

Vertical Transportation Interface Management

  • Coordinate lift shaft dimensions, clearances, pit dimensions, headroom, and machine room layouts.
  • Coordinate landing entrances, door openings, structural openings, recesses, and builder's work requirements.
  • Coordinate guide rail and bracket locations, lifting beams, electrical power supply, fire alarm, and access control interfaces.
  • Coordinate escalator truss openings, floor penetrations, support points, and installation clearances.

Documentation, Data, and QA/QC

  • Maintain BIM model naming conventions, folder structures, revision control, and file management in accordance with project standards.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 19650 principles, the project BIM Execution Plan, and Employer Information Requirements.
  • Extract quantities and technical information from BIM models and maintain model parameters and asset information.
  • Support COBie data preparation and asset information requirements where applicable.
  • Perform quality checks on BIM models and drawings before submission and correct modeling errors and data inconsistencies.

Deliverables Management

  • Revit BIM models (.RVT).
  • Navisworks coordination files (.NWC/.NWD).
  • Shop drawings in PDF and DWG formats.
  • Clash detection and BIM coordination reports.
  • Model data sheets, quantity reports, as-built BIM models, and Asset Information Models where required.

Software Requirements

  • Autodesk Revit: BIM modeling, family management, and drawing production.
  • Autodesk Navisworks Manage: clash detection and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • AutoCAD: 2D drafting and drawing review.
  • Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) / BIM Collaborate Pro: model sharing, coordination, and issue management.
  • Microsoft Office: preparation of reports, schedules, registers, and technical documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Building Services, or a related technical discipline.
  • Relevant experience in BIM modeling for vertical transportation systems, particularly lifts and escalators.
  • Practical experience in Autodesk Revit and Navisworks Manage.
  • Knowledge of lift and escalator layouts, installation requirements, and building interface coordination.
  • Understanding of BIM workflows, clash detection, model coordination, and shop drawing production.
  • Familiarity with ISO 19650, BIM Execution Plans, Employer Information Requirements, and LOD requirements.
  • Knowledge of ACC/BIM 360, model data management, and COBie requirements is an advantage.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, equipment layouts, and engineering information.
