Backend Software Engineer (Finance/Trading background preferred)

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop software using AI-assisted and agentic engineering practices and agile methods.
• Deliver secure, robust, scalable products integrated with enterprise systems.
• Analyze requirements, implement solutions, and enhance product components incrementally.
• Resolve high-priority defects and deploy production fixes.
• Improve engineering quality, automation, productivity, and lifecycle efficiency through AI technologies.
• Collaborate with global IT and business teams on digital trading applications.

Skills and experience

• At least 6 years with Java, Spring Boot, REST, and related server-side technologies.
• Experience with Kafka and distributed caches; Apache Ignite is preferred, with Hazelcast and Coherence also listed.
• Experience building scalable products integrated into large financial institution systems.
• Knowledge of security and cloud hosting architectures, software design patterns, distributed systems, and modern web technologies.
• Experience documenting architecture with high-level and detailed diagrams, UML, and sequence diagrams.
• Proficiency in React, TypeScript, and WebSockets such as STOMP or Socket.io.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, collaboration, and communication skills.

Preferred background

• Kotlin is nice to have.
• Professional use of GitHub Copilot, Copilot Chat, or equivalent AI-assisted engineering tools is beneficial.
• Experience or interest in financial services, order management, electronic trading, or securities trading is preferred.
• The role values learning trading workflows and taking ownership of features and technical solutions with guidance from leads.
