Role summary

Translate dealership financial data into accurate, clear reporting within TrueTrack.

Combine accounting analysis with customer education and consultative support for Controllers and Dealer Principals.

Work environment

  • Hybrid schedule with three days onsite at the Dearborn office.

Responsibilities

  • Review dealership GL accounts, trial balances, OEM financial statements, and account schedules across dealership departments.
  • Identify shared accounts, allocations, interdepartmental activity, misclassified or inactive accounts, and other nonstandard practices; clarify account purpose with Controllers or Office Managers.
  • Map accounts to TrueTrack categories according to accounting purpose and document material judgment and dealership-specific decisions.
  • Reconcile mapped results to trial balances and OEM statements, investigate variances, resolve missing data, and protect dealership information.
  • Update mappings as accounts are added, retired, or restructured; document changes affecting prior-period comparisons.
  • Explain account flows, TrueTrack categories, KPIs, and differences from dealership or OEM reporting; answer questions and obtain leadership approval.
  • Help dealership leaders use consistent mapping for profitability analysis, benchmarking, trend reporting, and business goals.
  • Document meeting follow-ups and owners, coordinate corrections and mapping changes, and quantify potential accounting-team time savings.
  • Flag reporting issues such as misposted entries and unreconciled balances; explain findings and recommend corrections and prevention.
  • Deliver live and recorded TrueTrack training and develop mapping guides, COA references, and KPI explanations.
  • Share recurring mapping challenges with product, design, and development teams and help improve automation, validation, documentation, and program materials.
  • Provide accounting insight to liaison and sales teams and respond to helpdesk tickets and dealer questions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2–4 years of accounting or financial statement preparation and review experience.
  • Understand balance sheets, income statements, GL account relationships, and reconciliation practices.
  • Know dealership financial statements, departmental profit-and-loss statements, and common account schedules.
  • Be familiar with dealership metrics including departmental gross profit, fixed absorption, expense-to-gross ratios, inventory days’ supply, and F&I income per vehicle retailed; identify anomalies and benchmark outliers.
  • Automotive dealership accounting experience is strongly preferred; examples include dealership accounting offices, Controller’s teams, CPA firms serving dealerships, OEMs, or 20 Group financial analysis.
