About the role

An ADGM-regulated asset manager is expanding its UAE funds business and establishing a fund management entity in GIFT City, India.

The associate role is split approximately equally between regulatory documentation and compliance, and building distribution relationships in India.

The role reports to the COO on operations and compliance and to the CEO on business development.

The candidate will serve as interim compliance officer for the GIFT City entity until a full-time officer is appointed.

India and GIFT City: regulatory and compliance

  • Support FME incorporation and IFSCA registration, including applications, documentation, and regulator correspondence.
  • Act as interim FME compliance officer, covering filings, policies, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Coordinate with Indian legal counsel, trustees, administrators, and auditors.
  • Track IFSCA and SEBI developments relevant to the business.

India: business development

  • Map and approach national and regional distributors, wealth managers, and asset managers.
  • Arrange and attend senior-level meetings and manage selected distributor relationships.
  • Prepare pitch materials, follow up, and complete distributor onboarding.
  • Maintain the distribution pipeline and report on progress.

UAE funds platform

  • Manage documentation for onboarding third-party fund managers to the funds platform.
  • Prepare fund setup documentation with legal counsel and service providers and support offering and master-feeder documentation.
  • Handle onboarding paperwork with UAE distributor banks.

Candidate qualifications

  • Minimum three years at an Indian trustee company, AMC, AIF, fund administrator, or regulated financial institution, with hands-on fund documentation and compliance experience.
  • A qualification such as CS, a law degree, CA, or equivalent must make the candidate eligible as a GIFT City FME compliance officer under IFSCA regulations.
  • Working knowledge of the GIFT City/IFSCA framework and SEBI regulations is required.
  • An existing network among Indian distributors, wealth managers, or asset managers is required.
  • Strong drafting, organization, attention to detail, and emotional intelligence are sought.
  • The candidate must be willing to be UAE-based and travel regularly to India.
  • UAE fund-regime exposure, feeder-fund or platform experience, cross-border distribution experience, and IFSCA-specified certifications are nice to have; UAE fund experience is not required.

Why join

  • The role offers access to senior leadership and a path toward compliance or distribution leadership in a fast-growing regulated asset manager.
