Associate Cost Control Engineer

Role overview

What you will do

• Support project-controls staff with project budgets and forecasts.
• Track labor, subconsultant, and other costs, including actuals, commitments, expenditures, and forecast values.
• Collect, organize, verify, and reconcile cost data from project teams, design leads, timesheets, and internal systems.
• Update project-controls, accounting, cost-management, and reporting systems.
• Prepare cost reports, summaries, dashboards, spreadsheets, management reports, and project review materials.
• Support cost-variance analysis and forecast comparisons; perform basic data-quality, arithmetic, and reconciliation checks.
• Identify and escalate unusual or incomplete cost information and maintain cost-control files, logs, and documentation.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in project cost control, project controls, cost engineering, or a related project environment.
• Intermediate or advanced Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and charts.
• Experience supporting budgets, forecasts, cost tracking, internal reporting, or project-controls system updates.
• Basic understanding of project budgets, forecasts, commitments, actual costs, labor costs, and cost reports.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and data-reconciliation skills; ability to meet deadlines and collaborate with project teams.

Desired skills and experience

• Experience with project-controls, ERP, accounting, cost-management, or internal-reporting systems is desired.
• Engineering design, construction management, construction supervision, or PMC project experience is desired.
• Familiarity with cost structures, reporting codes, budgeting, variance analysis, forecast comparisons, timesheets, labor, expenses, or project accounting is desired.
