Role overview

The Assistant Principal supports instructional and school-culture leadership and works to advance student achievement and conduct.

The role emphasizes high expectations, accountability, collaboration, and community engagement.

Qualifications

  • School Building Leadership certification is required.
  • A master's degree in Education Leadership or a related field is required.
  • At least one year of leadership experience and five years of successful teaching experience are required.
  • Candidates need a record of staff and student growth and performance, and experience and commitment to improving urban education for traditionally underserved scholars.

Responsibilities

  • Support instructional leadership, school culture, professional relationships, community engagement, and high expectations for student and staff conduct.
  • Help administer discipline, conduct, and attendance policies; support classroom instruction, management, and curriculum development.
  • Prepare required reports and paperwork, including discipline, suspension, expulsion, complaint, injury, and parent-communication records.
  • Assist with staff selection and development; supervise and evaluate assigned staff.
  • Assist with special-event supervision and management of school facilities, grounds, equipment, books, and supplies.

Compensation and benefits

  • Starting salary is $150,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance; a 403(b) plan with employer match; paid time off, sick leave, parental leave, and FMLA; disability and life insurance; and $5,000 annual tuition reimbursement.
