The West Midlands Combined Authority is seeking an Assistant People Business Partner (Projects).
The role supports the Bus Franchising and wider Transport programmes through people planning, engagement, retention, employee relations, and change activity.
The role contributes to supporting employees through change and enabling fair, evidence-based people decisions.
What you will do
- Provide People and Culture support to transport programmes and align people activity with milestones and priorities.
- Build relationships with senior leaders and project teams and advise on people policies, processes, and workforce challenges.
- Support workforce planning, retention, engagement, succession, trade union activity, and change management.
- Coordinate specialist input, governance panels, key papers, establishment changes, resource planning, and people data.
- Champion fair and inclusive people practices and work with Finance to monitor resourcing costs and value for money.
Essential criteria
- Proven experience in a People business partnering setting, preferably as an Assistant People Business Partner.
- Ability to work with senior leaders.
- Strong knowledge of TUPE, employment law, and workforce analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Education to at least degree level.
- CIPD qualification to Level 5 in HR and evidence of continuing professional development.
Location and working pattern
- The role is based at 16 Summer Lane, Birmingham, with at least 2 days per week spent in the office.
Contract information
- The role is a 3-year fixed-term contract.
