Assistant Chief Engineer

Role summary

Education and experience

• Five years' experience managing engineering and maintenance-related work, with technical training in HVAC-R, electrical, or plumbing.
• Four-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or a related major.

Property operations

• Supervise repair work orders and monitor their timely, quality completion.
• Plan, schedule, and evaluate preventative maintenance programs.
• Supervise Engineering and related areas in the Director of Engineering's absence and oversee day-to-day operations.
• Manage equipment and physical plant systems, including refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical, and life safety.
• Arrange services such as painting, repairs, renovations, and equipment or furnishing replacement; select and purchase supplies and equipment.

Property standards and service

• Inspect facilities, maintain required logs and records, operate generators and fire pumps as needed, provide emergency response, and repair equipment.
• Ensure employees have appropriate supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
• Promote guest satisfaction and excellent customer service through meetings, positive guest relations, and continuous improvement.

People management

• Communicate with employees, provide safety training and orientation, and communicate performance expectations.
• Support interviews, hiring, performance appraisals, employee feedback, staffing levels, and required disciplinary procedures and records.
