Role overview

Education and experience

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of experience in event management, food and beverage, or a related professional area.

Banquet operations and team leadership

• Manage inventories and assets, par levels, and equipment maintenance; order department supplies.
• Conduct monthly meetings, maintain attendance records, and enforce sanitation standards and established procedures.
• Schedule banquet service staff to forecast and service standards while maximizing profits.
• Lead shifts, assist with event service, attend relevant meetings, and apply knowledge of food, wine pairings, cuisine, and event presentation.
• Communicate expectations, train staff, and develop the team to provide consistent, high-quality service.

Guest service and staff development

• Set a positive example in guest relations, gather feedback, and handle guest problems and complaints.
• Empower employees to provide excellent service and improve guest satisfaction.
• Review meeting-planner surveys and guest satisfaction results and implement corrective actions.
• Interview and hire banquet captains and employees; support orientation and new-hire training.
• Observe service behaviors, provide feedback, and ensure employees understand performance expectations.
• Communicate emergency procedures and ensure staff are trained in safety procedures.

Pay

• Pay range: $57,000–$77,000 annually.
• Position is bonus eligible.

Schedule

• Full-time schedule.

Work location

• Located at 39 Smithe Street, Vancouver, British Columbia.
• Position is not remote.
