The Assistant Accountant supports banking, petty cash, accounts payable, and accounts receivable activities.
The role requires accuracy, organization, accounting knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple financial duties.
Banking and petty cash
- Reconcile bank statements daily, monitor accounts, process payments and transfers, and assist with cash flow.
- Liaise with banks and assist with weekly and monthly bank reports.
- Manage petty cash transactions, reimbursements, records, receipts, and reconciliations.
Accounts payable and receivable
- Process and monitor AP invoices, timely payments, and expense coding.
- Monitor AR collections and support AP and AR aging reports.
- Communicate with vendors and clients about overdue payments, discrepancies, and queries.
- Assist with AP- and AR-related financial statements and reports.
General accounting and administration
- Maintain accounting records and prepare monthly journal entries, including accruals and prepayments.
- Support month-end and year-end closing, financial statement preparation, and audits.
- Maintain financial filing systems and assist with ad hoc accounting tasks and projects.
Qualifications
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven accounting or finance experience, particularly with banking, petty cash, and AP/AR tasks.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or similar, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational and communication skills, and ability to work independently and with a team.
- A good understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Preferred skills
- Knowledge of local tax regulations and financial reporting standards is preferred.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, multitasking, and prioritization in a fast-paced environment are preferred.
