Role overview
Movable Ink is hiring a mid-level Analytics Engineer within its Business Intelligence team to accelerate the conversion of available data into insights.
The role bridges business stakeholders and data models by translating reporting needs into defined metrics reflected consistently across systems.
This is not a full-stack data engineering role: it does not ingest new systems or build raw pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain dbt models from the business vault layer through to the data mart; extend models with fields and refined calculations alongside BI and Enterprise Data teams.
- Create new Kimball-style datasets from available business vault sources when no new ingestion is needed.
- Build reliable, documented AI-ready datasets for internal AI and machine learning systems.
- Maintain the OpenMetadata data dictionary, including definitions, lineage and field-level documentation.
- Partner with stakeholders to agree on reporting metrics and with BI Analysts to translate insight needs into modeling requirements.
- Build Tableau dashboards and reports, keeping complex logic in the data layer rather than Tableau data sources.
Qualifications
- At least four years of experience in analytics engineering, data analytics or a similar role.
- Hands-on production dbt experience with models, tests and documentation; strong SQL skills in a cloud data warehouse context.
- Familiarity with facts, dimensions and slowly changing dimensions.
- Experience delivering analysis or dashboards to business stakeholders and analyzing multiple data sources and systems.
- Proficiency in a BI tool; Tableau is preferred. Redshift experience is a plus.
- Comfort with Git branching, pull requests and code review workflows.
Compensation
- Base pay is $110,000–$135,000 CAD per year; additional bonus may depend on the position offered.
- The employer also describes medical, financial and/or other benefits; actual pay may vary with job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
Workplace
- The title identifies the role as remote.
