CHANEL is recruiting an Alterationist for its Fashion Boutique on Market Street in Sydney.
The role addresses alteration needs for ready-to-wear collections while preserving garment integrity and meeting client preferences.
The Alterationist works with clients and Fashion Advisors and reports to the Fashion Boutique Manager.
Responsibilities
- Complete garment alterations on time and to high quality standards.
- Check pinning, press and prepare items, follow alteration forms, assemble and finish garments, and check fittings on mannequins before client fittings.
- Learn seasonal silhouettes and styling to recommend suitable alteration methods.
- Monitor the alteration schedule and communicate delays or issues to the team.
- Advise on fit, alteration possibilities, and ready-to-wear construction and fabrication.
Requirements
- Ability to sew and alter garments accurately to specification.
- Thorough knowledge of fabrics, draping, fabrication, and pressing.
- Ability to assess alteration effects on ready-to-wear and related accessories.
- Strong client communication and teamwork, including managing expectations about tailoring limitations.
- Productivity and organization in a fast-paced, deadline- and service-oriented environment.
