Overview and Objectives of the Position:

Lecturers at Murdoch University Dubai are responsible for delivering high-quality education to a diverse cohort of students in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

The Adjunct Lecturer-ICT396: Games User Experience and User Interface Design will be responsible for delivering engaging lectures, tutorials, and laboratory sessions to undergraduate and diploma students.

The successful candidate will facilitate student learning through practical, industry-relevant teaching approaches that integrate user experience (UX), user interface (UI), and human-computer interaction (HCI) principles.

Key responsibilities include preparing and delivering teaching materials, assessing and marking assignments and examinations, providing timely and constructive feedback, and supporting students throughout their academic journey.

The lecturer will contribute to developing students knowledge and practical skills in interface design, usability evaluation, accessibility, ethical design, and user-centred development practices, while fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and professional growth.

Objectives Of The Position

  • Deliver engaging, student-centred teaching aligned with course outcomes.
  • Develop students’ understanding of UX, UI, and interaction design principles across digital platforms.
  • Guide students in gathering user requirements and translating them into design solutions.
  • Support prototyping, testing, and iterative improvement of interactive systems.
  • Build awareness of usability, accessibility, ethical, and human-centred design principles.
  • Integrate theory with industry practice through real-world examples and case studies.
  • Encourage critical thinking, creativity, and evidence-based design decisions.

Essential

Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience Design, Game Design, or a closely related discipline

Teaching Experience

  • Demonstrated experience teaching one or more of the following subjects at undergraduate or postgraduate level:
  • Programming
  • Computer Graphics

• User Interface (UI) Design

  • Game Design or Development
  • Understanding of human psychology and physiology as they relate to human-machine interaction is highly desirable.

Industry Experience

  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:
  • Commercial software, mobile application, or game development
  • User experience research, usability testing, or interface design
  • Designing, prototyping, and evaluating digital interfaces
  • Applying accessibility, inclusive design, and human-centred design principles
  • Using industry-standard UX/UI tools and methodologies

Knowledge, Attributes & Skills

  • Strong understanding of human-computer interaction principles, usability, and interface design
  • Familiarity with interface evaluation methods, experimental design, and empirical research approaches
  • Knowledge of psychological and physiological factors influencing user behavior and interaction design
  • Understanding of ethical, cultural, and accessibility considerations in interface design
  • Ability to connect theory with practical, real-world applications
  • Strong communication, mentoring, and student engagement skills
