Support Verisk’s Government Relations Department across the business, particularly Underwriting Solutions and Catastrophe and Risk Solutions.
Responsibilities
- Support state approval of ISO core products, including forms, rules, loss costs, and statistical data.
- Support predictive modeling initiatives and catastrophe model review and regulatory acceptance.
- Build understanding of catastrophe models and their use across business units and products.
- Maintain state regulator relationships and resolve regulatory issues.
- Develop strategies for favorable regulatory action on ISO programs and priority filings.
- Present ISO initiatives to regulators and other audiences.
- Provide actuarial responses to regulatory inquiries and peer-review ratemaking methodologies.
- Monitor relevant actuarial standards and NAIC activity; provide state-specific filing recommendations.
- Support ISO interactions with independent bureaus.
- Travel occasionally for conferences and regulator visits.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related major.
- Associate (ACAS) or Fellow (FCAS) of the Casualty Actuarial Society.
- Minimum 7 years of insurance experience desired; deep regulatory and industry knowledge desired.
- Broad familiarity with most ISO lines of business preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, written, presentation, and negotiating skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Catastrophe and predictive analytics modeling familiarity preferred.
- Filing process and regulatory concerns familiarity preferred.
- Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required; basic programming understanding preferred.
- Some travel required.
