Role overview

What you’ll do

• Lead and develop the Accounts Payable team and support accurate, timely processing, payments, and reconciliations.
• Map accounting and P2P workflows to find manual work, handoffs, bottlenecks, and recurring errors.
• Build an automation roadmap for touchless processing with appropriate controls and exception handling.
• Own improvement projects through discovery, design, implementation, testing, training, and adoption.
• Ensure transactions flow correctly to the general ledger and P&L and support period-end reporting.
• Improve connections among purchasing, receiving, invoice matching, vendor management, approvals, payments, and reconciliations.
• Partner across Accounting, Partner Managers, Distribution Centers, and systems teams to resolve root causes and redesign workflows.
• Strengthen controls, audit trails, reconciliations, and documentation.
• Implement AI and automation with appropriate validation and oversight.
• Measure touchless processing, exceptions, processing time, accuracy, and effort saved.
• Support audit readiness and financial reporting through reliable processes and timely issue resolution.

Qualifications

• Accounting Manager experience and a strong foundation in full-cycle accounting, general ledger, reconciliations, period-end close, audit requirements, and the P&L.
• Broad accounting judgment to assess the effects of AP and purchasing changes on expenses, account balances, controls, and reporting.
• Experience implementing AI and automation in finance workflows from opportunity discovery through adoption and measurement.
• Ownership of an accounting or finance system implementation, integration, or significant workflow redesign.
• Practical P2P knowledge, including invoices, purchase orders, approvals, matching, payments, and reconciliations.
• People management experience, including coaching and helping a team adopt new processes and systems.
• Strong ERP knowledge and understanding of operational-system-to-ledger transaction flows.
• Ability to deliver improvements with minimal direction and communicate accounting needs to business and technical partners.
• CPA and Big Four audit experience are highly preferred; other listed bonuses include private-industry accounting and physical-inventory sector experience.

Additional preferred skills

• Inventory accounting knowledge is a bonus.
• Hands-on experience with NetSuite, SPS Commerce EDI, or similar ERP and transaction integration tools is a bonus.
• Practical use of ChatGPT or Claude in accounting, with examples of validation and process improvement, is a bonus.

Work arrangement

• The position is remote-first; Ottawa or Toronto is preferred for this role.

Compensation

• The base salary range is CAD 120,000–140,000 per year; additional incentives, perks, and benefits may be available.
