The accountant is responsible for managing daily accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, monitoring project costs, and ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
The role supports the financial operations of multiple business divisions and contributes to effective financial planning and decision-making.
Financial Accounting
- Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure all transactions are properly recorded.
- Prepare and process journal entries, payment vouchers, receipts, and invoices.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations.
- Monitor cash flow and assist in treasury-related activities.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Construction & Project Accounting
- Monitor project costs and ensure proper allocation of expenses to projects.
- Track project budgets, expenditures, and profitability.
- Review subcontractor invoices and supplier payments.
- Assist in preparing project cost reports and financial analyses.
- Coordinate with project managers and department heads regarding project-related financial matters.
Budgeting & Reporting
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Analyze financial data and prepare management reports.
- Support management with financial planning and decision-making processes.
- Prepare variance analyses between budgeted and actual expenditures.
Compliance & Audit
- Ensure compliance with Qatar financial regulations, tax requirements, and company policies.
- Prepare supporting documents for internal and external audits.
- Maintain proper filing and documentation of accounting records.
- Assist in implementing and improving accounting procedures and internal controls.
Payroll & Administration
- Support payroll processing and employee expense reimbursements.
- Verify timesheets, allowances, deductions, and related payroll records.
- Coordinate with HR and administration departments on employee financial matters.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent will be an advantage.
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within construction, contracting, or engineering companies.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Experience in project accounting and cost control is preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
- Familiarity with ERP systems is an advantage.
- Good understanding of Qatar financial regulations and business practices.
