Accountant
About This Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Accountant to join our team. You will be responsible for managing the financial health of our building projects, tracking job costs, and ensuring that our subcontractors and vendors are paid accurately. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the UAE construction sector and a firm grasp of project-based accounting.
Key Responsibilities
- Job Costing & Budgeting: Track all project-related expenses (labor, materials, equipment) and compare them against budgets to prevent cost overruns.
- Subcontractor Management: Review subcontractor payment applications, verify work completion, and manage Retainage (holdbacks).
- Billing & Revenue: Prepare progress billings and invoices for clients based on project milestones and the "Percentage of Completion" method.
- Compliance & VAT: Maintain accurate records for UAE VAT returns and ensure all financial activities comply with UAE Corporate Tax regulations.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly project-wise Profit & Loss statements and Cash Flow forecasts for management.
- Site Support: Coordinate with site engineers and project managers to audit field reports and petty cash expenses.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: 3 years of accounting experience, specifically within the UAE Construction or Contracting industry.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- License: Must hold a valid UAE Driving License (required for visits to project sites, banks, or government offices).
- Software Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel (Advanced) and experience with accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems).
- Language: Fluency in English (written and spoken).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of IFRS, UAE VAT laws, and construction-specific financial terms (WIP, Retainage, Change Orders).
- Audit & Oversight: Review and verify all supplier invoices, site purchases, and staff expenses to prevent waste or discrepancies.
- Frequent Reporting: Prepare and present Daily and Weekly cash flow reports, Project Costing (Budget vs. Actual), and Profit & Loss summaries.
- Manual Accounting: Manage all accounts and reporting using Advanced Excel (as no specialized software is currently in use).
- Legal Compliance: Full knowledge of Abu Dhabi Municipality regulations, WPS (Wage Protection System) payroll, and VAT filings.
- Site Coordination: Perform periodic site visits to verify material deliveries against invoices and monitor labor costs.

Pay: AED1,200.00 - AED2,000.00 per month
