1st Line IT Administrator

Role overview

Daily responsibilities

• Build and prepare laptops and user accounts for new starters, including IT enrollment.
• Troubleshoot IT incidents and requests, resolving issues where possible and escalating others to second-line support.
• Support hardware, software, Microsoft products, connectivity, and other IT systems.
• Guide colleagues in using Gamma systems and maintain accurate ticket notes and updates.
• Manage user accounts and access, raise purchase orders, and coordinate replacement equipment with suppliers.
• Share knowledge, improve service desk processes, follow IT policies and security requirements, and collaborate to resolve issues.
• Travel to other Gamma locations when needed, including occasional overnight stays.

Experience and technical knowledge

• Experience providing IT support in a service desk or similar environment.
• Knowledge of Windows 10 or later, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Exchange.
• Understanding of networking and connectivity fundamentals.

Skills and approach

• Strong troubleshooting, prioritization, and judgment about resolving or escalating issues.
• Clear written and verbal communication with non-technical users and strong interpersonal, customer-focused service.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under deadline pressure and maintain accurate records.
• Willingness to suggest improvements and work effectively with colleagues, second-line teams, and suppliers.
