Yacht Captain

The Captain is the overall authority on board the

yacht, responsible for the safe navigation, operation, crew management, guest services, and maintenance of the vessel, while ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations and the owner’s expectations.

Reports To: Yacht Owner / Management Company / Designated Line Manager.

Supervises: All onboard crew (Deck, Interior, Galley, etc.).

Master 500 GT Certificate (mandatory).

Valid Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping.

Minimum 5–7 years’ experience as a Captain or Senior Officer on yachts of similar size/class.

Strong background in crew leadership, guest relations, and international navigation.

Guest Experience: Ensuring the highest standards of hospitality and service for owners and guests, including itinerary planning and liaison with shore-side agents.

Safety Leadership: Conducting regular safety drills (fire, abandon ship, man overboard) and ensuring all crew maintain valid certifications.

3.

Compliance & Legal: Overseeing flag-state, port-state, and classification society requirements, as well as customs/immigration documentation.

4.

Crew Welfare: Supporting crew professional development, maintaining discipline, and ensuring compliance with the Maritime Labour Convention.

5.

Budgeting & Reporting: Preparing annual operating budgets, cost control, and transparent reporting to the owner or management.

6.

Maintenance Oversight: Working with engineers and technical managers to ensure preventive maintenance and planned yard periods are executed efficiently.
