Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Woodworking Engineer to join our dynamic team.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in woodworking and engineering principles, demonstrating both technical proficiency and creative problem-solving abilities.

This role is pivotal in overseeing woodworking projects from conception through to completion, ensuring quality standards are met while adhering to project timelines and budgets.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with architects, designers, and other engineers to develop innovative solutions that meet client specifications and industry standards.

Responsibilities

1.

Design and develop woodworking plans, ensuring they meet functional and aesthetic requirements.

2.

Oversee the production process, ensuring that all woodworking projects are completed on time and within budget.

3.

Conduct material selection and testing to ensure the quality and durability of wooden products.

4.

Collaborate with architects and designers to integrate woodworking elements into larger construction projects.

5.

Provide technical support and guidance to the production team, resolving any issues that arise during the manufacturing process.

6.

Implement and maintain safety protocols in the woodworking shop to ensure a safe working environment.

7.

Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in woodworking technology and techniques.

8.

Prepare detailed project documentation, including specifications, estimates, and reports for stakeholders.

9.

Train and mentor junior engineers and apprentices in woodworking techniques and best practices.

Conduct regular inspections of completed projects to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards.

Preferred Candidate

1.

Bachelor's degree in Woodworking Engineering or a related field with a strong foundation in engineering principles.

2.

Proven experience in woodworking design and production.

3.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively under pressure.

4.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and clients.

5.

Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and craftsmanship in woodworking.

6.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.

7.

Proficient in CAD software and other relevant design tools for woodworking.

8.

Knowledge of sustainable practices and materials in woodworking.

9.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.

10.

Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies in woodworking.

11.

Sales background is a plus.

Skills

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in maintenance or engineering of woodworking machinery.
  • Install, commission, operate, and maintain woodworking machinery (CNC, panel saws, edge banders, sanders), performing preventive and corrective maintenance, fault diagnosis, and machine upgrades to ensure optimal performance.
  • Analyze machine drawings, electrical schematics, and technical manuals, supervise setup, calibration, alignment, and testing, and maintain maintenance records and breakdown reports.
  • Train technicians and operators on safe operation and routine maintenance, and coordinate with suppliers and service providers to ensure technical support and spare parts procurement.
