Jefferies is seeking a Senior Java Engineer at VP level for its Investment Banking Technology and CRM/Analytics organization.
The role builds scalable, cloud-native, event-driven platforms supporting data-driven solutions across Investment Banking and client-facing business units.
The position combines deep technical expertise, end-to-end ownership, and engineering leadership across globally distributed technology teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead backend service and platform delivery using Java 8+ and Spring Boot, with Python and FastAPI exposure considered a plus.
- Own technical design, architecture, deployment, monitoring, and production support for end-to-end solutions.
- Build real-time, event-driven data pipelines with Kafka and related streaming technologies.
- Drive data architecture decisions involving PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redshift.
- Design and maintain APIs and microservices using REST, OpenAPI, GraphQL, and gRPC.
- Champion code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability, performance, scalability, resiliency, and low-latency operation.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, partner with business and product teams, and participate in Agile ceremonies.
Required Qualifications
- At least 12 years of hands-on experience building enterprise-grade backend systems.
- Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices architecture, and distributed systems.
- Proven Kafka and event-driven architecture experience in high-throughput environments.
- Experience with SQL, data modeling, relational and NoSQL systems, AWS, EKS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
- Ability to design fault-tolerant, highly available systems and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
- Ability to independently architect multi-service cloud-native solutions and lead engineering delivery end to end.
Preferred Experience
- Investment Banking or Financial Services domain experience is preferred.
- Python with FastAPI, the extended Apache ecosystem, CRM platforms such as Salesforce, and BI tools are preferred.
- Exposure to Databricks, StreamSets, MuleSoft, Angular, React, and TypeScript is a plus.
