- The VP - IT Investment Solutions defines and owns the strategy and multi-year roadmap for the organization's portfolio of investment applications.
- Acting as a strategic advisor to investment business leaders and working in close partnership with the IT Strategy function, the role sets direction, manages demand and portfolio priorities, researches and codifies leading market practices, and translates business ambition into a coherent, value-driven technology agenda.
- The VP leads and develops a team of product and solution specialists, establishes governance across the portfolio, oversees delivery of key projects, and participates in key forums to drive alignment and decisions.
- While retaining the depth of domain and technical knowledge required to make sound architecture, vendor and investment decisions, the role is principally strategic and consultative - shaping demand, influencing senior stakeholders, and driving adoption so that the portfolio delivers measurable business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads and develops a team of product and solution managers, providing direction, coaching and performance
- management.
- Accountable for the investment solutions strategy, roadmap, portfolio governance, project delivery, adoption
- and benefits realization across the portfolio.
- Define, own and drive the Investment Solutions strategy, roadmap and portfolio priorities, aligned to business objectives and the broader technology strategy.
- Partner closely with the IT Strategy team to ensure the investment technologies agenda is embedded within the enterprise technology strategy, governance and annual planning cycles.
- Lead demand management for investment solutions - capturing, qualifying and prioritizing business demand and translating it into a value-driven delivery pipeline.
- Own portfolio management for investment solutions projects - overseeing intake, prioritization, sequencing, resourcing and value realization across the portfolio.
- Manage the budget and annual business plan for the investment solutions portfolio.
- Research, benchmark and codify leading practices in investment technologies, bringing an outside-in perspective that continuously raises the bar.
- Provide leadership and direction to a team of product and solution managers - setting priorities, coaching and building capability across the function.
- Act as a trusted advisor and consulting partner to investment business leaders, shaping demand and translating business needs into a prioritized solutions agenda.Manage and facilitate key business and technical forums, working groups and committees, driving alignment and timely decision-making across stakeholders.
- Establish and enforce governance, risk and compliance frameworks across the investment solutions portfolio, aligned to enterprise IT governance and risk management.
- Define standards, architectural principles and decision rights for the investment applications estate, and govern adherence across design, delivery and operations.
- Lead and support audit engagement for investment solutions, ensuring controls, data governance and remediation actions are managed through to closure.
- Identify opportunities to embed AI within investment applications and drive their delivery with the development team, from use-case identification through to adoption.
- Provide thought leadership on emerging technologies - including AI, automation and data - and assess their applicability to the investment technologies landscape.
- Identify and prioritize the most impactful opportunities for automation, integration and process simplification across the investment applications ecosystem.
- Lead change management and adoption - measuring how effectively tools are adopted and defining interventions to reinforce usage and maximize value realization.
- Establish KPIs, executive dashboards and value-realization measures; track portfolio performance, adoption and business impact, and report to senior leadership.
- Champion data quality, integration and trust across investment applications, ensuring the accuracy and governance of portfolio data as an enabler of decision-making.
- Build and steward strategic vendor and partner relationships, influencing product roadmaps and holding partners accountable for outcomes and service levels.
- Lead contracting and license management for investment solutions, optimizing commercial terms, renewals and vendor agreements.
Required
- Extensive experience in financial services or asset management, with a strong understanding of the investment business and its technology landscape.
- Proven track record of defining and executing IT strategy, roadmaps and portfolio governance frameworks in complex environments.
- 8+ years in progressively senior technology roles, including at least 4 years in leadership positions across strategy, portfolio governance or IT planning.
- Demonstrated ability to lead enterprise portfolio planning, demand management and prioritization aligned to business objectives.
- Strong experience in governance, risk management, compliance and audit engagement.
- Proven track record managing cross-functional initiatives and large programs, with strong stakeholder engagement and a consultative, advisory style.
- Demonstrated success driving change management and adoption to maximize value realization from technology initiatives.
- Experience in performance management, reporting and portfolio/ITSM tools (e.g. ServiceNow), with familiarity across investment platforms such as eFront, DealCloud.
