Develop and coordinate veterinary research supporting wildlife conservation and breeding programmes.
Research focus includes virology, immunology, and infectious diseases.
Based in Reneco’s Research Division in Abu Dhabi, the researcher works closely with the Veterinary Division.
Key responsibilities
- Identify knowledge gaps and propose research projects aligned with conservation, animal health, and breeding priorities.
- Design and lead scientific studies, defining objectives, methods, timelines, and expected deliverables.
- Oversee scientific quality, ethical requirements, data analysis, and reporting.
- Supervise and mentor students, and review progress and outputs from external collaborators.
- Coordinate partnerships with academic institutions, laboratories, and veterinary research teams.
- Provide scientific support on virology, immunology, and infectious diseases.
- Prepare publications, technical reports, and presentations; communicate findings to scientific and operational teams.
- Maintain research documentation and ensure findings are accessible to relevant teams.
Qualifications and experience
- Veterinary degree and PhD in veterinary sciences, virology, immunology, infectious diseases, or a closely related field.
- At least 4 years of relevant research experience and demonstrated ability to independently develop and deliver scientific projects.
- Substantial post-degree research experience and evidence of scientific publications.
- Experience mentoring students and coordinating multidisciplinary or external research collaborations.
Skills and other requirements
- Strong study design, data interpretation, scientific writing, and communication skills; fluent written and spoken English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; statistical analysis software; and scientific data management tools.
- Willingness to undertake occasional international travel.
