Role Overview
The Applied Technology Group is hiring a fully qualified and experienced Technician.
The role maintains, repairs, improves, and calibrates ventilation systems and related components and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, and calibrate nuclear ventilation systems and components.
- Maintain and repair ventilation, heating, domestic water, and compressed air building systems.
- Contribute to ventilation system design improvements and prepare testing and calibration procedures.
- Demonstrate system operation to users and maintain, repair, and improve the DOC system.
- Follow safety regulations and oversee other personnel or junior technicians when required.
Knowledge and Skills
- Apply current HVAC, electromechanical, and controls knowledge to complex building mechanical problems for cyclotron operation.
- Use knowledge of HVAC, cooling, and electrical power distribution controls to maintain system operation.
- Calibrate sensors and instrumentation used on building systems.
- Apply specialized techniques, sound judgment, communication skills, and hands-on mechanical aptitude to technical problems.
Minimum Qualifications
- Technology diploma in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field from a technical college or institute.
- At least 4 years of relevant and practical work experience.
- Complete TRIUMF’s in-house radiation safety training and be designated as a Nuclear Energy Worker.
Compensation
- Salary is $70,380.00 per annum plus an employer-paid benefits plan.
- Benefits include health, dental, vision, pension, disability, insurance, wellness benefits, and paid leave.
Workplace and Employment
- The position is permanent and based at TRIUMF’s research facility in Vancouver, British Columbia.
- The role involves hands-on maintenance and operation of building and nuclear ventilation systems.
