Utility Locator / Drill Locator (Union)

Key Responsibilities
- Track and locate drill heads during HDD operations Operate walkover locating systems Communicate bore path information to drill operators Monitor drill depth and location accuracy Locate and identify underground utilities Prevent utility conflicts and underground damage Record bore data and depth information Read bore plans and construction drawings Follow safety protocols and utility construction standards Work closely with HDD crews and field supervisors Maintain accurate field documentation Support telecommunications, fiber, gas, and electric utility projects Required Qualifications
- ✅ Prior directional drill locating experience
- ✅ Experience locating for HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) crews
- ✅ Experience using walkover locating systems
- ✅ Experience tracking drill heads and communicating bore path information
- ✅ Knowledge of underground utility construction practices
- ✅ Experience identifying and protecting existing underground utilities
- ✅ Valid Driver's License
- ✅ Ability to join the union as a condition of employment
- ✅ Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening
- ✅ Ability to pass background screening
- ✅ Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- ✅ Ability to walk uneven and rough terrain for extended periods
- ✅ Strong attention to detail
- ✅ Strong communication skills
- ✅ Safety-focused mindset
- ✅ Ability to accurately record bore data and depth information
- Preferred Qualifications
- ⭐ Experience with DCI (Digital Control Inc.) locating systems
- ⭐ Experience with Subsite locating equipment
- ⭐ Fiber optic construction experience
- ⭐ Telecommunications construction experience
- ⭐ Gas utility construction experience
- ⭐ Electric utility construction experience
- ⭐ Utility locating certifications
- ⭐ Damage prevention training
- ⭐ Experience reading bore plans and construction drawings
- ⭐ One Call / 811 utility locating experience
Preferred Qualifications
