Utilities Engineer

Role overview

Design and coordination

• Develop conceptual and detailed designs for utility corridors, utility master plans, and utility cross-sections.
• Write technical notes and coordinate existing and new utilities infrastructure; coordinate with other engineering sections and develop alternatives to problems.
• Prepare engineering design models in Civil 3D or similar software and coordinate multidisciplinary designs.
• Prepare presentations and reports for clients, authorities, and management.
• Provide support for other engineering activities and input to the project BIM/CAD designer.

Review and delivery

• Review plans and profiles for technical compliance with design objectives and clarity for construction.
• Develop simple workflows and templates for efficient repeatable design and apply advanced engineering principles to complex analytical models.
• Check design deliverables from engineers with equal or less experience.
• Track task assignments against the baseline schedule and contribute to meeting project deadlines.
• Understand and comply with local authority regulations.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• At least 5 years of related experience.
• Proficiency in CAD and engineering-related PC software packages.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of QA/QC standard practices and procedures.
• An Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate is an advantage.
