Required Qualifications

  • Music Therapy Board Certified (MT-BC)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or within 30 days
  • 1 year music knowledge, skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of pediatric
  • Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates effectively with patients, families and staff to identify patient care needs
  • demonstrates professional behavior when interacting with patients, families, and coworkers.
  • Orients patient and family to the Music Therapy program. Assesses the family's and patient's learning needs and ability to participate in program.
  • Develops and follows age specific and culturally appropriate treatment plans based on standards of Music Therapy and individual needs.
  • Integrates knowledge and skills gained from other staff members (social work, psych, nursing, rehab, etc.) into the treatment plan.
  • Organizes and implements therapeutic group interventions for all patients that are age, culturally, and developmentally appropriate in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Assists with inventory, maintenance and ordering of departmental supplies.
  • Orients students, visitors, and new staff to the department and its philosophy in pediatric burn care.
  • Aids in supervision of child life volunteers and assistants.
