Traffic Coordinator

Position Overview

Schedule and Workplace

• The position is onsite in Romeoville, Illinois.
• The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; overtime and weekends may be required.

Core Distribution Duties

• Prepare domestic and international transportation, export compliance, hazardous material, and order-specific documents.
• Audit shipment details such as hazard classification, addresses, forwarders, shipping methods, freight costs, and priorities.
• Coordinate carrier routing, pickup communications, manifests, return deliveries, and missing documentation.
• Ensure orders are documented, labeled, packed, staged, and shipped accurately and on time.
• Maintain transportation databases, shipping records, departmental supplies, and required Microsoft Office programs.

Quality and Collaboration

• Investigate missed shipments and assist analysts and leadership with root-cause analysis.
• Support Kaizen events, PSP activities, assigned training, departmental meetings, and continuous improvement.
• Work with shipping leadership and outbound dock teams and assist with training new employees.
• Follow safety and housekeeping policies and complete daily and weekly 5S duties.

Essential Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• At least one year of experience with carriers, import and export compliance, DOT regulations, or similar distribution work is required.
• A notary certificate or willingness and ability to become certified is required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access is required.
• Strong written and verbal communication, basic math, and English language skills are required.
• An associate degree, shipping or receiving experience, and ERP experience are preferred.
• Bilingual language skills and working knowledge of manufacturing shipping processes are advantageous.

Compensation

• The stated compensation range is USD 26.25 per hour, with potential bonus pay.
