🎯 The Role
We are seeking an experienced
Trade Compliance Manager
- to lead the organization's global trade compliance program and ensure adherence to international import, export, customs, and trade regulations.
- The ideal candidate will develop compliance strategies, manage regulatory risks, oversee trade operations, and partner with cross-functional stakeholders to support efficient and compliant global trade activities.
- 🚀 Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute global trade compliance strategies aligned with organizational objectives, regulatory requirements, and international business operations
- Oversee import, export, customs, sanctions, and trade compliance activities to ensure adherence to applicable local and international regulations
- Collaborate with logistics, procurement, supply chain, legal, finance, operations, sales, and customs brokers to support compliant cross-border trade operations
- Develop, implement, and maintain trade compliance policies, procedures, internal controls, and governance frameworks across the organization
- Manage product classification, tariff classification, Harmonized System (HS) codes, country of origin determinations, customs valuation, free trade agreement (FTA) qualification, and trade documentation processes
- Conduct restricted party screening, sanctions compliance reviews, export licensing assessments, and due diligence activities for customers, suppliers, distributors, and business partners
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including customs clearance efficiency, regulatory compliance, audit findings, shipment delays, documentation accuracy, duty savings, compliance training completion, and risk mitigation effectiveness
- Lead internal compliance audits, regulatory inspections, corrective action plans, and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen trade compliance controls
- Identify, assess, and mitigate trade compliance risks related to customs regulations, export controls, sanctions, anti-bribery requirements, supply chain security, and international trade operations
- Monitor changes in international trade regulations, customs legislation, free trade agreements, sanctions programs, and regulatory requirements while advising business stakeholders on potential impacts
- Manage relationships with customs authorities, government agencies, customs brokers, freight forwarders, legal advisors, and external compliance partners
- Prepare compliance reports, risk assessments, audit findings, regulatory updates, executive dashboards, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop trade compliance specialists, customs coordinators, and compliance analysts while fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, regulatory excellence, and continuous improvement
- ✅ Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Business Administration, Logistics, Law, Customs Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred
- Professional certifications such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), Certified Export Specialist (CES), Certified International Trade Professional (CITP), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), or equivalent are advantageous
- 5+ years of experience in trade compliance, customs compliance, import/export operations, global logistics, international trade, or related roles
- 2+ years of experience managing trade compliance programs, customs operations, or cross-functional regulatory initiatives preferred
- Strong understanding of import/export regulations, customs procedures, export controls, sanctions programs, free trade agreements (FTAs), tariff classification, customs valuation, and international trade compliance frameworks
- Experience with ERP systems, Global Trade Management (GTM) software, customs compliance platforms, denied party screening tools, Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, and business intelligence tools
- Familiarity with World Customs Organization (WCO) standards, Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) programs, supply chain security initiatives, and international commercial terms (Incoterms®) is advantageous
- Strong leadership, analytical, strategic thinking, organizational, risk management, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, presentation, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration abilities
- Ability to develop and maintain enterprise trade compliance programs while balancing regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and business objectives
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
