Backend Engineering Manager

• to lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable backend systems and services.
• The ideal candidate will oversee backend architecture, guide engineering teams, establish technical standards, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to build secure, resilient, and high-performing applications that meet business and customer needs.
• 🚀 Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute backend engineering strategies aligned with organizational objectives, product roadmaps, and technology initiatives
• Lead the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of scalable backend applications, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
• Manage backend architecture decisions to ensure high availability, scalability, reliability, security, and performance across production environments
• Collaborate with product management, frontend engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, quality assurance, security, and data teams to deliver high-quality software solutions
• Establish engineering standards, coding guidelines, architecture principles, and development best practices to ensure maintainable and secure software
• Oversee software development lifecycle (SDLC) activities including planning, code reviews, testing, deployment, release management, and continuous improvement
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including system availability, API performance, deployment frequency, lead time for changes, defect rates, mean time to recovery (MTTR), and engineering productivity
• Drive performance optimization, database scalability, caching strategies, messaging systems, and application monitoring to improve system efficiency
• Lead incident response, root cause analysis, technical troubleshooting, and implementation of preventive measures to enhance platform reliability
• Evaluate emerging backend technologies, frameworks, cloud services, and engineering tools to improve scalability, developer productivity, and software quality
• Manage engineering resources, technical roadmaps, project priorities, budgets, and vendor relationships to support strategic technology initiatives
• Prepare technical reports, engineering metrics, architecture documentation, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership
• Lead, mentor, and develop backend engineers, technical leads, and software architects while fostering a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• ✅ Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field preferred
• Master's degree or professional certifications in Cloud Computing, Software Architecture, Agile, Scrum, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes, or equivalent are advantageous
• 7+ years of experience in backend software engineering, software development, or distributed systems engineering
• 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams or leading backend development initiatives preferred
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, RESTful APIs, GraphQL, microservices, distributed systems, database design, messaging systems, caching, and cloud-native application development
• Experience with programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, Go, Node.js, or similar backend technologies
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Git, monitoring platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices, secure coding principles, system design, DevOps, and Agile development methodologies
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration abilities
• Ability to balance technical excellence, engineering delivery, scalability, security, and business priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment
