Responsibilities
- Implement, configure, and maintain high-availability Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and SQL Server AlwaysOn environments.
- Establish, test, and maintain backup and recovery strategies using Oracle RMAN and SQL Server mechanisms.
- Manage on-premises, engineered-system, and cloud database workloads across AWS, Azure, or OCI.
- Diagnose performance bottlenecks, locking issues, and resource contention; optimize queries, code, indexes, and execution plans.
- Set up monitoring, alerts, and dashboards using Oracle Enterprise Manager, SSMS, or third-party platforms.
- Lead or assist Oracle-to-SQL Server or SQL Server-to-Oracle migrations.
- Plan and execute database upgrades and apply security patches.
- Support ETL data movement and replication using Linked Servers or Oracle DB Links.
- Manage database access controls and audits; implement encryption, data masking, and secure network connections.
Skills and experience
- Deep Oracle Database 19c+ administration knowledge, including Multitenant, ASM, RAC, and Data Guard.
- Advanced MS SQL Server 2016 through 2022+ administration, including AlwaysOn, Transactional Replication, and SSIS.
- Strong complex PL/SQL and T-SQL skills, with scripting in Bash, Shell, or PowerShell.
- Solid Linux/Unix and Windows Server administration knowledge for database hosting.
