About the Role

Infrastructure Architecture and Deployment

• Architect, design, and deploy complex large-scale IaaS solutions on GCP, including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Filestore, VPC, and load balancers.
• Use Terraform or Cloud Deployment Manager to automate provisioning, management, and scaling of cloud resources.
• Lead planning and execution of complex migrations from on-premise data centers to GCP, including multi-tiered application and database workloads.

Advanced Operations and Troubleshooting

• Act as Tier 3 escalation for system-level issues, performing deep root cause analysis on incidents.
• Implement advanced monitoring and logging using Cloud Monitoring and Cloud Logging, proactively resolving system-level problems.
• Manage capacity planning, performance tuning, and resource utilization for seasonal and long-term business needs.

Security and Governance

• Define and enforce organizational policies, IAM roles, and security best practices across the GCP environment.
• Ensure infrastructure meets organizational, industry, and regulatory compliance standards through audits and automated controls.
• Implement and manage data encryption, backup, and disaster recovery plans.

Automation and Project Leadership

• Drive automation of recurring and trivial tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to design and implement CI/CD pipelines for deployment and configuration.
• Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects and guide other teams on cloud best practices, strategy, and architecture.

Collaboration and Mentorship

• Work closely with cloud architects, DevOps teams, and security teams to align on standards, requirements, and solutions.
• Mentor and train junior-level engineers on complex cloud technologies.
• Create and maintain documentation for architectures, operational procedures, and standards.

GCP Admin Skills

• Expert-level proficiency managing Compute Engine VMs, instance groups, and instance templates, including performance and cost optimization.
• In-depth understanding of VPC networking, subnetting, peering, load balancing, Cloud CDN, Cloud Interconnect, and Cloud VPN.
• Extensive knowledge of Cloud Storage, Persistent Disks, and Filestore.
• Expert-level knowledge of GKE, Docker, and container security best practices.
• Hands-on experience managing Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner, and Firestore.
• Advanced skills using the Cloud Operations suite for monitoring, logging, and tracing, including complex alerts and dashboards.

Automation and Infrastructure as Code

• Expert proficiency with Terraform or Google Cloud Deployment Manager to provision, update, and manage cloud infrastructure.
• Strong scripting skills in Python or Bash for automating tasks, deployments, and infrastructure management.
• Experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
