Perform gas turbine component thermal analysis, secondary air system work, and oil system design and analysis within turbojet and turbofan development programs.
The role calls for expert knowledge in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, gas turbine propulsion, project planning, and developing individuals.
Responsibilities
- Carry out component thermal analysis simulations for engine thermal mapping.
- Assess steady and transient thermal and secondary flows in gas turbine engine components.
- Conduct sizing and design studies for oil and lubrication systems, seals, sumps, bearings, and pumps.
- Develop numerical and experimental methods for verification and validation.
- Support team members, develop junior engineers, and provide constructive feedback.
- Review designs and simulations, generate testing guidelines, identify project risks, and plan mitigation.
Requirements
- Aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related-field degree.
- Strong background in gas turbine propulsion, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
- Fluency in English and technical skills in one or a combination of the stated topics.
- Experience using Ansys Workbench or similar commercial tools; experience in FEA, CFD, or lower-order simulation methods.
- Experience with 1D flow network software such as Flomaster or Amesim.
- Programming experience using C, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar.
- Awareness of current materials, aerodynamics, and structural mechanics technologies relevant to gas turbine thermal system design.
- Good communication and presentation skills; ability to solve problems, prioritize tasks, and delegate when necessary.
