Role summary
Performs gas turbine component thermal analysis and secondary air and oil system design and analysis for turbojet and turbofan development programs.
Responsibilities
- Run component thermal analysis simulations to map engine thermal behavior.
- Assess steady and transient thermal and secondary flows in gas turbine engine components.
- Size and design oil and lubrication systems, seals, sumps, bearings, and pumps.
- Develop numerical and experimental methods for verification and validation.
- Support team members, develop junior engineers, and provide constructive feedback.
- Review designs and simulations, generate testing guidelines, and identify project risks and mitigation plans.
Qualifications
- Degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Strong background in gas turbine propulsion, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
- Fluency in English and experience with Ansys Workbench or a similar commercial tool.
- Experience in FEA, CFD, or lower-order simulation methods; 1D flow network software such as Flomaster or Amesim; and programming with C, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar.
- Awareness of current materials, aerodynamics, and structural mechanics technologies relevant to gas turbine thermal system design.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, problem-solving ability, and capacity to prioritize and delegate tasks.
