Technical Writer — Job Description Role summary
Create clear, accurate, and user-focused technical content (documentation, guides, FAQs, release notes) that helps customers and internal teams understand and use products and services.
Key responsibilities
- Produce and maintain user-facing documentation: user guides, API docs, tutorials, quick starts, and FAQs.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise prose for target audiences (end users, developers, administrators).
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, QA, and support to gather information and validate content.
- Create and maintain developer-facing documentation: API references, SDK guides, code samples, and integration guides.
- Design documentation structure and information architecture for discoverability and usability.
- Develop and maintain style guides, templates, and documentation standards (voice, tone, formatting).
- Create visual aids: diagrams, screenshots, flowcharts, and videos where appropriate.
- Manage documentation lifecycle: versioning, releases, and archival of deprecated features.
- Contribute to internal knowledge bases, runbooks, and onboarding materials for customers and new hires.
- Solicit and incorporate user feedback; perform content usability testing and iterate.
- Automate documentation workflows where possible (Docs as Code, CI/CD for docs).
- Ensure content accessibility and localization readiness; coordinate with localization teams.
Required qualifications
- 3+ years technical writing experience, preferably in software, SaaS, developer tools, or IT.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to learn technical concepts quickly and explain them clearly to non-experts.
- Experience with documentation tools and platforms (Markdown, Read the Docs, Sphinx, Confluence).
- Familiarity with version control (Git) and Docs-as-Code workflows.
- Basic knowledge of common development concepts: REST APIs, authentication, CI/CD, containers, and cloud fundamentals.
- Experience producing API documentation and working with Open API/Swagger or similar.
- Proficiency with screenshot/diagram tools (Lucid chart, Figma, draw.io) and basic video/screen recording tools.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: QAR21.69 - QAR87.46 per hour
