Technical Managers may be located at head office or other branches.
The assigned position depends on inspection scope, including cranes and lifting accessories; NDE and PWHT; or mechanical, materials, electrical, and non-metallic inspection.
Technical and inspection operations
- Oversee technical and administrative activities for inspection services and maintain technical procedures.
- Train and evaluate technical staff; interview ATM, SI, and IN candidates and assess competence.
- Approve inspection certificates and, where necessary, inspection reports; review enquiries, contracts, tenders, and quotations for technical capability.
- Assign competent inspectors and monitor their performance.
- Prepare an annual witness-monitoring plan, ensure audits and monitoring follow it, and update monitoring status quarterly.
- Review client ITPs and procedures for suitability and coordinate development or refinement of technical procedures across branches.
- Ensure equipment is maintained and calibrated, calibration is traceable to national or international standards, and purchases use approved brands with arrival inspection.
- Coordinate with the GM on daily inspection activities, audit reports, and certification decisions; substitute for the GM when necessary.
- Participate in complaint reviews and maintain the complaint register; manage staff confidentiality and conflict-of-interest declarations and assignments.
- Track updated technologies, trends, and methods and share them with staff; ensure current documents and formats are available and obsolete documents are not used.
Reporting
Administrative reporting is to the respective country GM.

- Technical and administrative oversight of inspection services is part of the role.
