L2 Google Cloud Support Engineers provide the primary support layer, monitoring systems, handling incidents, troubleshooting, and escalating in a timely manner.
The role maintains SLA compliance and operational stability; the overview states an experience range of 2–6 years.
Responsibilities
- Monitor GCP resources using Cloud Monitoring, Logging, and Security Command Center; resolve alerts, incidents, and service disruptions.
- Troubleshoot compute, network, IAM, storage, firewall, connectivity, VPN, and load-balancing issues.
- Manage Compute Engine instances and administer Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, and GKE.
- Manage IAM roles, policies, and access controls; perform operational tasks, health checks, and maintenance.
- Provision and manage GCP resources using Terraform or Deployment Manager; support landing-zone setup and project onboarding.
- Configure VPCs, subnets, VPN, Interconnect, and load balancers.
- Monitor system performance, optimize resource use and cost, and configure dashboards, alerts, and logs.
- Analyze system trends, recommend performance improvements, and ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
- Handle incident, problem, and change management processes under ITIL; support Linux/Unix and Windows server environments.
Skill requirements
- Strong knowledge of Google Cloud.
- Understanding of ITIL.
