Role Overview

Roles & Responsibilities

• Apply systems, mission, and digital engineering methods to challenging national security problems.
• Translate mission needs into rigorous engineering analysis, architectures, models, and recommendations.
• Contribute to systems engineering, architecture, analysis, interoperability, systems-of-systems engineering, and technology integration activities.
• Frame mission needs, analyze system interactions, define requirements, assess alternatives, identify risks, and develop recommendations.
• Develop and maintain requirements, architectures, interface definitions, traceability products, models, analyses, trade studies, risk assessments, and decision products.
• Apply MBSE and digital engineering methods using SysML, Cameo/MagicDraw, architecture modeling, simulation, or equivalent platforms.
• Analyze mission threads, operational concepts, interfaces, and interoperability challenges.
• Lead defined technical work packages and mentor early-career engineers as experience permits.
• Collaborate with MITRE technical experts in the United States and Honolulu.
• Build technical breadth and depth toward increased project, customer, and technical leadership ownership.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree at AQF Level 7 or higher in a relevant technical discipline.
• Typically 3+ years of relevant professional engineering experience in a complex technical environment.
• Ability to analyze complex multidisciplinary problems and develop structured, defensible technical recommendations.
• Experience producing or reviewing engineering artifacts, analyses, models, architectures, requirements, or recommendations.
• Strong technical communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
• Interest in national security, defence, critical infrastructure, aerospace, or complex mission environments.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian Government NV2 security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in systems engineering, mission engineering, digital engineering, MBSE, architecture, interoperability, modeling and simulation, or related disciplines.
• Hands-on experience with SysML, Cameo/MagicDraw, architecture frameworks, requirements management, digital engineering environments, modeling and simulation, or comparable tools.
• Familiarity with AI or ML-enabled systems or emerging technologies in complex mission environments.
• Experience applying mission engineering, systems integration, or systems-of-systems approaches in defence, national security, aerospace, or critical infrastructure.
• Experience leading work packages, mentoring engineers, facilitating technical reviews, or coordinating multidisciplinary activities.
• Familiarity with Australian Defence capability development, acquisition, operational environments, or allied multinational mission environments.

Salary Compensation

• Salary compensation range is $146,400 to $219,600 annually, with a midpoint of $183,000.
