Communication and safety
- Coordinates with the IT Operations and Service Management manager, IT Department, Cyber Security Team, business users, and IT vendors.
- Follows safe work systems, training, and instructions; reports accidents, incidents, and near misses; stops work considered unsafe.
Education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- At least four years of relevant IT/System Engineer experience; maritime or offshore experience is preferred.
- Experience managing Windows, cloud, virtualization, networking, modern workplace environments, enterprise infrastructure, identity, and endpoints.
- Experience implementing IT security policies, procedures, and operational standards; VSAT and satellite communications experience required, with maritime VSAT preferred.
- Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, ITIL, or equivalent industry certifications are preferred.
Technical knowledge and languages
- Knowledge of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, public/private/hybrid cloud, TCP/IP, routing, VLANs, LAN/WAN, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and network security.
- Ability to manage virtual machines, networks, storage, and virtualization infrastructure; implement security controls across cloud, on-premises, network, endpoint, and workplace environments.
- Automation with PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or similar tools; experience supporting endpoint management, identity and access management, collaboration platforms, and enterprise Windows.
- Knowledge of VSAT, RF and satellite communications, link performance, frequency concepts, and enterprise technologies including Active Directory, Azure AD, GPO, Endpoint Manager, SCCM, Hyper-V, and AVD.
- Good understanding of cybersecurity, ITIL practices, compliance requirements, and Agile and Waterfall project management methods.
- Business-fluent English is required; Arabic is an advantage.
System engineering and operations
- Plan, design, and implement IT systems, including servers, networks, storage, and related infrastructure; ensure architecture meets performance, security, and scalability needs.
- Administer physical and virtual servers, including operating system installation, updates, and patching; manage network devices and satellite communications.
- Install, configure, align, test, commission, and maintain VSAT terminals and satellite communications systems.
- Troubleshoot satellite modems, antennas, BUCs, LNBs, transceivers, IDU/ODU equipment, and RF components; diagnose RF/IP faults and service interruptions.
- Perform preventive and corrective VSAT maintenance; conduct site surveys for new installations.
- Implement and manage SAN/NAS storage, backup, and disaster recovery systems.
- Install, configure, and support organizational software and applications; collaborate with developers on integration.
- Implement security measures, including firewall configurations, intrusion detection, and access controls, and ensure compliance with security standards and regulations.
