Volunteer opportunity
1122 seeks Student Assistants to support learners and the community from inside the organization.
This is a three-month volunteer opportunity, not a paid role.
What the assistant will do
- Welcome and support new learners and remain active in the 1122 Virtual Campus.
- Answer general questions, help learners find information, and escalate technical, academic, or administrative issues appropriately.
- Support participants during the Sahara 21-day selection program by clarifying schedules, activities, expectations, and support options.
- Follow up on common questions, encourage respectful peer collaboration, and report recurring issues and feedback.
- Learn how the learning environment and community operate.
Who they are looking for
- No extensive professional experience is required.
- Applicants should have tried the 1122 application experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfort engaging with people from different backgrounds.
- Patience, respect, helpfulness, reliability, and commitment throughout the three-month period.
- Comfort working and communicating online and as part of a team.
- Ability to resolve simple issues and escalate others; good organization and basic problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to learn, receive feedback, improve, and take initiative.
Experience gained
- Practical experience in community and student support, communication, conflict resolution, teamwork, problem solving, and issue escalation.
- Experience with online community operations, educational program support, and a fast-moving learning environment.
- Opportunity to work with the 1122 team and learn about project-based and peer-to-peer learning.
